Today I visited the lovely Parkland Parish Quilt shop in Tacoma, WA and walked out with the cutest retro Christmas fabric and plans to make a Christmas quilt. So I’ve got Christmas on my mind. In September! I’m sure I’ll snap out of it by next week since I’m usually horrified at stores putting out Christmas decorations in August, but I couldn’t resist digging up some modern Christmas inspiration from around the web tonight. Enjoy!
The double wedding ring. My love. My nemesis. This has always been one of my favorite quilt patterns. I started one in April with high hopes it will one day adorn my bed and people will ooo and ahh over it and I’ll stand there smugly and say “yep. I sure did make that”. Maybe I’ll be able to say that in 10 years.
In the meantime I will gaze fondly upon other dwr quilts until I dig mine out of my “to-do” bin. Yes I have a bin, not a pile of to-do’s. Don’t judge.
Love the idea of doing one in all solids. I am so in love with solid quilts right now!
My quilt is similar to the pink one above in that the melons are a different fabric than the background diamonds. It gives a great optical illusion effect.
Back to the sewing table…
This past Saturday I went to the Sisters Quilt Show in Sisters Oregon. They boast being the largest outdoor quilt show in the world. And it was indeed. HUGE. I will be posting some photos of my favorite quilts from the show over the next few weeks.
This was one of the first quilts I saw when I was entering the town and made me really excited to see more. I was officially geeking out hardcore.
